As a parent of two military children, Dave strongly believe that we must treat those who served with the same dedication that they gave to our nation. No veteran who needs physical or mental care should be turned away. After the tragic death of Sgt. Brandon Ketchum, Dave worked with veterans, local Veteran Service Organizations and community members to author the Sgt. Brandon Ketchum Never Again Act. Simply put, under the Never Again Act, if veterans ask for mental health care from the Veterans Administration, they will get it. By giving veterans the power to get the mental health treatment they want, Dave believes the VA can take an important step to ensuring that no veteran ever again wonders whether he or she is “sick” enough to be admitted for psychiatric care. It is a shame that each day, 20 veterans take their own lives. Dave is committed to not letting this continue. Even one veteran who takes their own life is one too many.
