U.S. Rep. Dave Loebsack is being honored by a trade association for his support for the wind energy industry. The Iowa Democrat is expected to visit two Iowa wind energy companies on Wednesday to be presented the USA Wind Champion Award from the American Wind Energy Association.

Loebsack’s office says the award recognizes his ongoing support of the growing industry in Iowa and his work to extend a federal tax credit for wind energy production.
Wednesday’s events will be at Acciona Energy in West Branch and Siemens in Fort Madison. They come as Loebsack begins to campaign for re-election in a newly redrawn district that covers most of southeastern Iowa. He will face Bettendorf lawyer John Archer, who won last week’s Republican primary, in November.
