Loebsack Renews Call for Extension of PTC for Wind Energy

Congressman Dave Loebsack today renewed his call for the House to bring up and pass a production tax credit (PTC) for renewable energy that will expire at the end of 2012. In a letter to the Speaker of the House, Rep. John Boehner, Loebsack discussed the importance of the PRC to Iowa and the rest of the nation. Earlier this month, Loebsack joined the entire Iowa delegation in calling on Congress to pass an extension during consideration of the payroll tax cut.

“We must continue to support emerging energy industries just as we have done, and continue to do, for the oil and gas industries,” wrote Loebsack. “Wind energy is extremely important for out state as well as other states and is becoming increasingly important for the U.S. energy generation capacity. [It] has created thousands of new jobs in the U.S. and is a promising alternative to fossil fuel energy production. I again respectfully urge you to bring up a renewal of the PTC and other expired alternative energy tax credits that expired at the end of 2011.”
