Loebsack Shutout (10/28/2010)

Congressman Dave Loebsack received the endorsement of the Daily Iowan. This marks the sixth endorsement that Dave Loebsack has received from editorial boards in Iowa.

Congressman Dave Loebsack received the endorsement of the Burlington Hawk Eye.  The editorial board commended Loebsack for his bipartisan work, noting that, "Loebsack has proven he can get things done for the 2nd District.
CEDAR RAPIDS, IA – Congressman Dave Loebsack visited Cedar Rapids and Burlington today to receive the endorsement of the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, a nationwide senior citizen advocacy group. Loebsack is a leader on seniors’ issues and has received the Heritage Agency on Aging award for legislator of the year.
This week, the nonpartisan Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) awarded Congressman Dave Loebsack an “A” grade for his leadership and continued commitment to honoring the service of our nation’s veterans.
Today Congressman Dave Loebsack received his third endorsement in a row from Dr. Miller-Meeks’ hometown paper – The Ottumwa Courier.  The editorial board commended Loebsack for his “commitment to Iowa and Iowans” and his work to “service th[e] district as a congressman should.”
Running for Congress is more of a marathon than a sprint, but in the age of sound bites and nationally financed advertising, the early stages of the race can be difficult to remember, much less the race two years ago.

Today Congressman Dave Loebsack received the endorsement of the Cedar Rapids Gazette. In particular, the editorial board commended Loebsack for "his work on the House Armed Services Committee, and his continued advocacy for Iowa communities impacted by the 2008 floods."
Congressman Dave Loebsack reported total receipts of $967,463 for the 2010 cycle. Loebsack reported $504,398 cash on hand at the end of the third quarter and has raised approximately $405,000 from individual donors this cycle. In contrast, Loebsack’s opponent Dr. Mariannette Miller-Meeks has personally bankrolled her own campaign to the tune of over half a million dollars. 
I come home to Iowa every weekend and meet with families, businesses, community leaders and farmers from throughout the 2nd District. What I hear time and again, whether it be from someone I run into at the gas station or at a chamber of commerce meeting, is that the No. 1 priority for Iowans, and therefore for me, is job creation and economic recovery. I have worked diligently toward this goal and will continue to do so in order to support hardworking Iowa families and the small businesses that are the drivers of our economy.
Loebsack for Congress is releasing a new TV ad, Make Them Pay. In the ad, Dave Loebsack is fighting on behalf of the taxpayers of Linn Country and Cedar Rapids.
Today Congressman Dave Loebsack and his challenger Dr. Mariannette Miller-Meeks  held their first public forum at the Coralville Public Library. The forum was sponsored by the Johnson County Task Force on Aging, Johnson County AARP and the Press-Citizen. During the forum, Dr. Miller-Meeks made dramatic shifts in her policy positions concerning our country’s seniors.
Today Congressman Dave Loebsack and his challenger Dr. Mariannette Miller-Meeks will hold their first public debate at the Coralville Public Library. The forum is sponsored by the Johnson County Task Force on Aging, Johnson County AARP and the Press-Citizen. Dr. Miller-Meeks has taken a series of dangerous positions that would jeopardize our seniors’ lifelong saving and their health care. What new positions will she take today?
